The 21-acre Gamber-Brisky Conservation Preserve lies along the Lake Michigamme shoreline in Republic Township. The property includes rich riparian wetlands and a diversity of forest types, including areas of sphagnum moss understory's and a variety of fungal species. This dedicated Conservation Preserve, established in 2014, was donated by Carol Gamber and Carrie Gottlieb in honor of her father and step-father, Paul Gamber and James Brisky, who loved wild places in the U.P

Gamber-Brisky Preserve can be access from Holli Blue Road in Champion, MI. From US HWY 41/M-28, turn south onto County Rd AKE, the entrance to Van Riper State Park. The road will turn into Holli Blue Rd (a dirt road). There is a sign that says 'Holli Blue Property Owners Only,' which includes UP Land Conservancy as a landowner. Follow for approximately 3.2 miles, until you hit a fork in the road - then turn left to stay on Holli Blue Rd (there is a sign the has addresses in the 16000s pointing left). Continue for about 0.5 mi until there is another fork in the road at 46.492484, -88.052885 - turn left and drive for 0.5 miles until you arrive at the preserve parking area and trial head entrance on your left. Note that neighboring landowners have put up 'Private Property' signs on their property boundary along the access road, but the road is open for access to the preserve. Please be respectful of neighboring landowners and remain on UPLC's preserve trails and road.

Gamber-Brisky is open for passive recreation during daylight hours. No motors or bikes, please! Do not dump or remove any natural or manmade features. It is a great place for quiet trail walking and catching a view of the waters of Michigamme Lake.
